A gaming content site migrated off WordPress with 1:1 URL parity — website

TourneyTime Network is a Call of Duty / Warzone content site — news, weapon-loadout guides and Discord-community pages — that had gone dormant on WordPress and Elementor but still pulled meaningful organic search traffic, concentrated almost entirely on one guide. We rebuilt it from scratch on Astro deployed to Vercel behind Cloudflare, mirroring the same stack we use for client work. A custom extraction pipeline pulled the live WordPress REST API into Astro content collections, converting every post to clean markdown, downloading and localising all media into the repo so the site stands alone once WordPress is retired, and repairing internal links. The migration brought across 53 posts and 18 pages — 71 content files — with 1:1 URL parity to the original permalinks, verified by an integrity checker and a parity checker that both passed clean: zero broken links, zero broken images. We applied a bespoke competitive-esports identity from a Claude design handoff — brand-purple accent, condensed uppercase display type, hard-edged zero-radius cards with a signature offset-shadow hover and "data block" treatments for loadout stats — added consent-gated GA4, an llms.txt AI-search sitemap and structured data, then rebuilt the site's dominant search asset, the Warzone Bunker Codes pillar, into an answer-first snippet-optimised page with facts re-verified against around 17 dated sources including official patch notes. We then executed the live cutover: pointed the domains at Vercel, forced the SSL cert, and switched Cloudflare to proxied Full (strict).

The brief

A dormant but still-ranking gaming content site was stuck on heavy WordPress/Elementor, with most of its organic traffic resting on a single under-performing flagship guide.

What we did

A lossless rebuild on Astro + Vercel via a custom WordPress-extraction pipeline preserving every URL, post and image, a bold bespoke esports identity, consent-correct analytics and technical SEO, the flagship guide rebuilt answer-first — then a real production DNS/SSL/Cloudflare cutover.
